Jalori Pass – Kullu Sarahan - Bashleo Pass – Bathad (Dak Runner’s Trail)
The trek takes you through two passes, Jalori and Bashleo, which connect Kullu to Shimla. The beauty of the ridge separating the two valleys at Jalori Pass was first discovered by Penelope Chetwode, daughter of the Commander in Chief of the British Army in India, in 1931. She accompanied her mother on foot and horseback from Shimla to Rohtang Pass via Jalori Pass. She returned to India in 1963 to trek the region once again but unfortunately, passed away on the temple steps of one of her favourite spots at Khanag village which is close to Jalori pass. This trek passes through tiny villages/ old wooden temples and also takes us on of section Dak Runner’s trail, which was used for carrying official letters during the British era. We also pass through forest rest houses, some of which are over 100 years old and the guest books at these places still mention royal visitors from past.
